Sturgill Simpson - Sound and Fury [Album Review]
Sturgill Simpson's new album, Sound and Fury is up for discussion in this week's episode of On the Record Music.
Sturgill Simpson and his band really push the boundaries of country music in this effort. So much so that its rock and roll. Aside from the fantastic guitar work, the bass guitar shines and the drums are solid, lest anyone forgets about the heavy focus on the synthesizer work that almost steals the show.
While the concept album format is fantastic, sometimes the transitions between songs happens almost too fast for the listeners ear and its hard to tell where one song ends and the other begins, but maybe that's the point.
Sound and Fury by Sturgill Simpson Album Rating (Out of 6 Strings)
J-Man: 4/6 Strings
Ringer: 5/6 Strings
In addition to the music review, Ben and Jesse talk about their week in music including old Rage Against the Machine footage, holding an $8000 guitar and the video produced by Sturgill Simpson that goes with the album.
